2010-2019 Subaru Outback 1" Lift Kit

If you have any mechanical inclination, this kit is a breeze. I had everything installed and riding down the road in about 3 hours. I think the 1” front and 1 3/8” rear is about the perfect amount of lift especially for a daily driver. I took it down some fire trails that I frequent during hunting season and no more scraping like I usually do all without sacrificing OEM ride quality.

2014 Outback 6MT. 1" F/R. Installation was relatively strait forward, though the instructions from ADF were pretty basic.

If you've never removed a strut, I suggest that you hire a shop or find a friend who has experience. YMMV, but for my car, I had to entirely disassemble the front and rear control arms in order to gain enough play to install the longer struts. This would only be exacerbated by a 1.5" or 2" lift.

If anyone can reliably and safely remove strut tophat studs in the manner detailed in the instructions, I'll buy 'em a 50 year old scotch. With 50K of unsalted miles on my Outback (zero rust), there was no way to hammer on them with an oversized nut for leverage. Mercifully, I had a sacrificial wooden workbench through which I notched a "V" slot, set the top hat in place, and was able to pound them out with a 3# hammer. And I mean POUND.

This kit does not come with new strut tophat self locking nuts. It should.

Also, the kit doesn't include rear brake line bracket extensions. Those are absolutely required. My brake lines would have been perilously close to over-strained when at full articulation (sway bar in place). Thankfully, I ordered them elsewhere when I ordered the lift kit, but these should be included.

I'd happily have spent 20 bucks more for ADF's kit if it included those things.

Still, don't let me dissuade you. The 1" kit is VERY good value for money, especially if you're able to self install and don't need a "monster" Roo.
