‘02 Wagon

I’ve been praising the lowered since I got my ‘02 WRX 4 EAT wagon back in ‘04. Now with over 242K miles I figured it was time for a new look and decided to bring it up from the weeds. I went with 1” front and 1 3/8” rear set.
Install was fairly straightforward. Since there are no instructions specifically for ‘02 wagons I went with the ‘08 Impreza instructions. I had to remove the top hats of the rear struts to make removal of the pressed studs and install of the new bolts possible. So before you have your car sticking halfway out of the garage, jacked up with the wheel and strut removed like I did, make sure you have spring compressors on hand.
I was able to press the bolts out of the front struts with a vice and 9/16 socket without having to remove the top hats. But I did have to do a little filing/sanding to make the spacers fit flush because the top hats of the front struts flared out a little bit wider than the spacer hole. I’ll note that I have aftermarket OEM spec struts/springs so I don’t know how similar the top hat dimensions are compared to what rolled off the factory floor 22 years ago.
All in all I’m stoked on the how my car looks with the extra clearance. FWIW install took me about 7ish hours including setting and cleaning up. YMMV.
