6 bolts, but whatever. Easy install!! Even taking 4 bolts off, the diff didn't leak. Just don't mess around. Only took about 20 minutes without ramps or a jack(2" lift though)... 12 mm factory on diff, upgrade to 13.

I installed this rear differential skid plate on my 2022 Subaru Ascent Onyx.
The fitment is perfect and the installation was very simple. It took me about 10 Minutes with the following tools: 14mm chrome(thin wall) socket, 17mm socket and a 17mm open end wrench.

To install just remove the two lower 14mm differential cover flange bolts and the two 17mm flange nuts forward of the differential. Leave the forward bolts in place and slip the skid plate on to those bolts. Install the 17mm flange nuts "and" two diff cover bolts "before" fully tightening anything. Once the hardware is installed snug them down before final torque is applied. When tightening the diff cover bolts, I did notice that I needed to turn them in evenly to pull the skid plate inward towards the diff cover. Once you see/feel the skid plate bottom against the diff cover, apply final torque to the flange bolts and forward mounting hardware. ( refer to service manual for proper torque specs)
