Originally I was planning for getting the Gen 5 platform (which is what is fairing is designed for) but was told they were no longer in stock so instead got the Gen 6 one.
[Mod] Did some mod on the fairing attachment but now they fit nicely (and sturdy too, but time will tell!). The Gen 6 platform's front lip is much thinner and the underside channel sits a lot more forward than the Gen 5, so I drilled 4 new holes for the piece attaches to the platform, about 4mm forward from the original holes. I then added "Beveled" square washers (see picture) to bring the mounting holes for the fairing down and forward a bit more. The fairing then fits nicely and has been solid since last 2 weeks. The square washers has a large diameter hole but I used double sided tape to hold them in, if they (ever) pop up I'll add some smaller washers + JB weld to make them permanent.
Overall very happy with this fairing! Not only they look cool but they work! Dramatically cut down the wind noise and returned around 1 MPG back. Hope ADF will continue making renewed design for Gen 6 but hey, with a little elbow grease you'll make it work!
Quality is amazing. The company is amazing. I bought this for my Outback knowing I would have to modify it because my rack is a little oversized and I do not have a T-Slot to mount to. I was seriously overthinking the problem but Patrick made suggestions that helped me get it on flawlessly and beautifully. As far as performance, it cut the wind noise down significantly for me. But it wouldn’t matter because this thing looks badass! I’ll be getting the molle panels soon too. Thank you!
*** I must also note that in my particular circumstance, I mounted it above the sunroof wind fairing and I don’t think it is meant to be but it completely works for my rack situation***
Cut wind noise significantly. I measured 5dB difference at 70 mph compared to the bare rack and saw only a 1dB increase over a naked roof.
Looking forward to seeing gas mileage and how well it works with a loaded rack.
Unit is very well made of heavy gauge material. Fit and finish is first rate.
Install is straight forward but definitely easier with the platform removed from the vehicle.
I did have to move my rack back about 2" from Rhino's recommend bar locations to make the deflector contact the roof.
I do wish that t bolts hardware was supplied. Rhino seems to have cut back on the extra hardware in their platform, at least in my case.
